Army strong

One of the first ‘FFP Member Stories’ we featured on the Fit Father Project Podcast was on Fit Father Lee, one of our most visibly successful members.

Nothing (including age) can stop you from getting fit, and Lee is an excellent example of that — he lost over 100 lbs and gained massive biceps at age 50!

Lee was always fit growing up, and during his Army Ranger days, he was in peak physical condition.

But like with so many of us, family, life, and work got in the way and his fitness fell by the wayside.

He hit the lowest point in his health between 2017 and 2018, when he weighed almost 300 lbs. He was too busy with work and had ignored his health completely.

“I avoided going to my annual physical because I knew I had packed on the pounds,” says Lee. “I was busy traveling globally for work, busy with family obligations, and I wasn't eating right. I wasn't sleeping and focusing on myself at all at the time.”

He could only skip his regular health checkups for so long, however. Eventually, his health forced him to visit his healthcare provider.

His body was giving him warning signs he could no longer ignore.

“The real culmination of it occurred on December 8, 2019, when at 49 years old, I went to have a physical,” says Lee. “I knew I was obese, and I hadn't been sleeping well for the last several years. I was eating Tums like a Pez dispenser, up at night with sleep apnea, and lethargic all day, every day, regardless of what I would eat or drink at the time. So I mustered myself enough energy to go to the physical.”

Lee’s Eye-Opener

After mustering the courage to visit his healthcare provider, Lee was subjected to several medical checks. Lee had no idea that this would be such an eye-opener for him.

“Sitting in the doctor's office; they do the blood pressure, cholesterol, triglycerides, and the sugars. I sat there cringing because the doctor looked at me and said I was borderline needing high cholesterol and hypertension medicine,” says Lee. “He said I’m not quite there yet but on this trend. He also added that two years later, I’m going to find myself in a very bad spot with heart conditions, potentially diabetes, and other ailments.”

Lee instantly realized what he needed to do.

“I looked at the doctor and said, well, you know what, I need to lose weight,” says Lee.

His healthcare provider was completely aligned with his thoughts. She suggested he lose weight and assured him that weight loss would take care of a majority of these problems.

Lee teaches us the key to beginning your weight loss journey.

A Search for ‘Men Over 50 Metabolism’ Leads to the Fit Father Project

While Lee was adamant about losing weight, he did not want to rely only on a diet.

Based on previous experiences, he knew he would only lose a few pounds and then gain them back.

“So I went on the internet and started searching and Googling anything and everything,” says Lee. I started targeting words like, ‘men over 50 metabolism.’”

And that’s where he found the Fit Father Project.

“I found a video, and what really attracted it to me was the Fit Father Project logo,” says Lee. “It has that military look to it a little bit.”

While the logo caught his eye, the principles of the Fit Father Project are what really stuck with Lee.

“So I watched the video and three things really stood out for me,” says Lee. “First, is that there is no magic pill or miracle diet. The second is that it does take work. Third, is that you can never out-exercise bad nutrition.”

Lee had never heard real, straight talk like that when it came to health and fitness plans. The money-back guarantee was the icing on the cake, and Lee took the plunge and joined the Fit Father Project.

“You can't go wrong with a money-back guarantee,” says Lee. But, realistically, compared to all things in life, the price of the program is minuscule. You spend more than that on a good night of binge drinking in college!”

Lee breaks down the challenges of losing weight for men over 50 and how he dealt with them.

How Lee Got Army Strong (Again) With the Fit Father Project

Lee’s original mission statement was to lose 15 lbs in 30 days.

He lost 20 in the first 30 days!

He also wanted to be under 250 pounds by the time he turned 50.

“For me, the real defining moment initially was when I got to the end of the first week, and I was 3 lbs down,” says Lee. “And it was trending 3 lbs down. It wasn't like I went 3 lbs down one day, but then I was back to my normal weight the next day. I was trending down, and I felt good.”

From there, Lee just kept setting goals and knocking them down one after the other.

“I physically began feeling better inside my joints — they weren't hurting as much anymore,” says Lee. “I didn't feel as lethargic. I had a lot more energy; the morning protein shakes were driving my energy levels through the roof. So that for me is when I really started going, I think I'm onto something here.”

Lee has not only lost over 100 lbs and gained huge biceps, he’s also feeling healthier and fit inside his body.

Now, he’s living the second half of his life the way he did when he was a youngster.

“Now I'm sitting at 50, and I want to be like I was from 10 to 20,” says Lee. “I want to relive that. And so for me, that's where I keep my mind.”

So what would Lee say to someone who’s looking to join the Fit Father Project?

“Number one, join the Fit Father Project — just do it,” says Lee. “Two, absorb the base material that starts the process of educating yourself on the nutritional aspects that will sustain you moving forward. Because the foundation I learned in the first days/weeks of FF30X are the same foundations I live on today.”

3 Key Takeaways From Lee’s Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Lee’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Don’t Let Your Age Stop You From Getting Fit

When it comes to good health and fitness, never get your age or injuries deter you. Lee was 49 years old, 300 lbs, and extremely lethargic when he began FF30X. He ultimately lost over 75 lbs. This step-by-step program helped him not only lose weight but get stronger and healthier with each passing day.

Lesson 2: To Achieve Weight Loss, Follow a Well-Balanced Meal and Workout Schedule

A healthy diet or workout alone cannot propel your weight loss goals. The Fit Father Project helps you create a comprehensive weight loss and fitness plan that comprises meal plans and workouts to get you back in shape and help you build a healthy life.

Lesson 3: All Efforts Are Useless Without Accountability and Discipline

Accountability is the key to success. With FF30X, members receive daily accountability emails. The accountability from the Success Team ensures that each member continues to progress and hit their ultimate weight loss and health goals.

Also, it takes discipline to keep yourself going. After the first euphoria wears off and you get into ‘the grind,’ you must now look back. You’ll face heaps of temptations on your way. Always remember your mission statement, and don’t let anything hold you back!

What is FF30X?

FF30X is a simple, sustainable, and specific weight loss program that is designed especially for busy men over 40.

With short metabolic training workouts, an easy-to-follow meal plan, and an accountability team that is there for you at every step, FF30X can help you lose 30, 40, or even 50+ lbs — even if you’ve never picked up a weight in your life.
