Not all protein powders are created equal, as some contain added sugar and fillers. Choosing the best protein powder for men means picking one rich in high-quality protein without artificial ingredients.
If you're unsure if the protein powder you're consuming is a high-quality product, look at its ingredient list and nutrition facts label.
Choose protein powders with about 20 grams of protein (or more) per serving, little to no sugar, and whey or plant-based proteins as ingredients.
Then, consume the best protein powder for men as a meal replacement, between-meal snack, or post-workout fuel to enhance lean mass and aid in healthy weight management!

Protein helps you maintain lean body mass and healthy bones, hair, and nails.
It's needed for nearly every function within the human body.

Different Types of Protein Powder
Numerous protein powders are available to choose from, which is why picking the right one might feel overwhelming.
Milk vs. Plant Proteins
The best protein powder for men often contains whey or plant proteins, such as pea and brown rice powders.
Avoid proteins containing soy, as it contains estrogen-like compounds.
Whey protein is one of the highest-quality proteins available, as it regularly provides all of the essential amino acids your body needs.
Consuming multiple plant-based proteins is another excellent way to meet your body's amino acid and protein needs.
Whey Isolate vs. Whey Concentrate
There are a few main differences between whey isolate and whey concentrate.
Whey isolate undergoes additional processing compared to whey concentrate, which means it usually contains higher protein concentrations with fewer carbohydrates, fat, and lactose.
However, because of this, whey isolate is usually more expensive.
You might see whey isolate AND whey concentrate on the ingredient list of your favorite protein powder.

Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons of natural peanut butter, almond butter, or another nut butter
- 1 teaspoon of melted coconut oil
- 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon of powdered erythritol
- 3-4 tablespoons of almond flour
- 1/4 cup of vanilla protein powder
- 1/3 cup of sugar-free dark chocolate chips
Instructions
- Whisk all of the dry ingredients together in a bowl, including the protein powder, powdered sweetener, and almond flour, until smooth. Set the mixture aside.
- Mix the peanut butter, vanilla extract, and melted coconut oil in another bowl until smooth.
- Stir the liquid ingredients into the dry ingredients. Add the chocolate chips and knead the mixture with your hands, squeezing the ingredients together until they form a dough ball.
- Adjust the batter ingredients, if needed, until the dough ball holds its shape. If it's too dry and crumbly, add extra melted coconut oil. Add additional almond flour if the dough is too wet.
- Divide the dough into even 12 sections and roll each between your hand to form smooth balls.
- Place the protein balls on a plate covered with parchment paper.
- Place it in your refrigerator for 1 hour or in the freezer for 10 minutes until the protein balls become firm.
- Remove the plate from your refrigerator, reshape the balls if needed, serve, and enjoy!
- Store the protein balls in an airtight container for up to five days in the fridge or in your freezer. Thaw frozen protein balls for 30 minutes before eating them.
