finding your purpose

Finding your purpose in life can often seem like a pipe dream. But with the right inspiration and motivation, you can align your life.

Fit Father Ralph was able to use nutrition and exercise to find true joy in his life and completely change his family’s dynamic.

Ralph is a husband and father of 10 who also runs a full-time plumbing business and a ministry.

Needless to say, Ralph is a busy guy, and like many of us busy guys do, he let his health fall by the wayside.

But, then Ralph found the Fit Father Project and learned how to listen to his body.

Then, his health became the glue that brought everything in his life together!

Listen to Ralph's Story on the Fit Father Project Podcast:

Feeling Like Life Was A Chore

In his late 30s, Ralph questioned his life's purpose.

He was trying to track the cause of his emotional and physical fatigue in different external aspects of life, only to realize that it was his poor health and shape.

“Every aspect of my life is full all the time. And I just reached a point where I felt like I was surviving. There was this turmoil, this battle I was always having internally. I was tired. Maybe I'm working too much. Maybe I'm giving too much to the ministry. Maybe I'm giving too much to the family. I felt torn in all these areas, but it was because I was so unhealthy. I had a quarter of the energy I do now. So that led to me always just surviving life.”

Ralph wanted more from his life.

Then, the Fit Father Project became, as he says, an answer to his prayers.

He chanced upon one of the Fit Father Project’s videos, which he personally related to.

The program also piqued Ralph's interest as it only demanded three hours a week from him.

“There was no way I had three or four hours to spend in the gym daily. The commute to the gym and working out afterward was too much. I didn't have that much time. So when I heard that all I need is three hours a week and a meal plan, I was thrilled.”

Ralph joined the program and immediately started seeing results.

He realized that it was what he had been looking for.

Ralph quickly saw that the program wasn't a ‘diet' — it was a lifestyle change, so he became a Fit Father For Life.

Ralph loved the nutritional component of the program and always made it his priority.

“It's so simple and least restrictive. Like most people, I could never think of going on a diet. But we have a meal plan here at the Fit Father Project. I love it because we can still go out and have ice cream on Sunday night, and then Monday, we're back on the meal plan. So, I have that free meal you allow yourself to have.”

As he was humming along and transforming his life, his wife took notice and joined the Fit Mother Project.

Being on the programs together helped strengthen their relationship.

“Once it became a journey that we were both on, it strengthened our marriage because now we were supporting each other in another aspect of our lives.”

Finding your purpose isn't always easy, but when you do, it's so enriching. See how Ralph found his!

Finding Your Purpose

Ralph weighed 225 pounds before starting the Fit Father Project.

After 30 days, he was down 25 pounds.

After another 30 days, he lost 20 more pounds and was feeling amazing!

“I feel healthier now than when I was in high school football. I have more energy to keep up with my children while playing sports with them.”

Ralph believes that the Fit Father Project finally helped him get the abundant life he had always wanted.

He feels more enriched in both his spiritual and marital life.

“Everything from spiritually to my marriage is great. It is a great time in my life right now. This is what true joy feels like, and I believe when the Lord said to live an abundant life, this is what he meant.”

Ralph's family is also a beneficiary.

Their eating habits have drastically changed for the better, improving their overall health.

One of Ralph's daughters has even seen a positive change in her asthma, and the Fit Mother Project has done wonders for his wife

“My wife has lost 30 pounds or more. She reached a point where she was really tired. Her stomach was hurting all the time. She was having headaches and had really bad health, as we both did.”

From being a couch dad after getting home from work to becoming an active dad who now frequently engages with his children, Ralph has come a long way.

“I feel like a dad again, and I got back my fatherhood.”

He and his wife laud the Facebook Brotherhood and Sisterhood Facebook Groups for constantly motivating them and acting as pillars of strength during tough times.

“In other programs that we have tried previously, this community, inspiration, and drive weren't there. Once my wife joined, she found it very positive and amazing. The community has the answers to any question you ask. So it's very helpful.”

So what would Ralph say to someone looking to join the Fit Father Project?

“Just follow the program. You don't need a roomful of resources. I didn't have dumbbells, so I started with two water bottles. It does not matter. Just trust the program because it takes your mind to another level. You will learn to push harder. Try to dig deeper into your nutrition, workout, and old self, and tell yourself that you can do this. Accept each challenge, and by the time you come to the end of it, you'd be doing things you never believed you could ever do. It will boost your confidence. You must address many things in your life that are holding you back. So get them and yank them out. That way, you can really have an abundant life. Just be obedient to the program and follow the steps; the rest will be history.”

3 Key Takeaways From Ralph's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Ralph’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: You Can't Out-Exercise a Bad Diet

One of the key principles of the Fit Father Project is that you can't out-exercise a bad diet.

Or, as Ralph puts it, “It's like feeding yourself the right fuel. When we put the right fuel into our bodies, our bodies work effectively.”

Be mindful of what you eat because nutrition is more important than exercise.

Lesson 2: Know Your Foundational Principles

Knowing the foundation of your fitness program is crucial to making any progress with it.

You must know what you should eat and why.

You must also be aware of which exercises work for you and which do not.

Such basic knowledge is necessary to understand the process you are committing to.

Lesson 3: Health Is Wealth

Your health is more important than anything else in your life.

In Ralph's fitness journey, we see how it was like the glue that brought everything together.

Ralph could not hold himself from reiterating several times in the conversation that his “life is abundant.”

He had been searching for peace and joy all his life, and those two emotions became his default state when his body was fully-functioning.

His health was foundational to bringing together the elements of having love, meaningful work, and a thriving family.
