As a busy father; fitting in fitness isn't always in the cards. But you can build and maintain a healthy routine no matter how hectic life gets.
Just ask Fit Father Dave!
Dave is a husband and a father to four school-aged children. He’s also a busy architect who does a lot of design and architecture for universities and colleges, which means he's often traveling and away from home.
If you’ve ever had to travel for work, you know maintaining a healthy routine and fitting in fitness are not easy tasks!
Dave was always fit and active growing up and, for the most part, was always healthy. But, as he got older and family and work demands grew, Dave’s health began to fall by the wayside. He tried different things to get back on track, but nothing seemed to stick.
Then, one January, Dave got a fateful call from his father, who asked him if he had any New Year's resolutions. Dave knew he was out of alignment and wanted to invest in his health and fitness to have more vitality and be there for his kids. At that point, Dave knew it was finally time to do something, to get real results.
And that's exactly what he did — he not only got fit and healthy, but he also improved his relationships with his wife, kids, and father!

Neglecting His Health
Dave's health began to deteriorate gradually as the demands of his daily life overshadowed his well-being. Poor eating habits, lack of exercise, and neglecting self-care took a toll on his physical and mental health.
“I found myself caught up in the chaos of life, neglecting my health in the process. I was overweight, fatigued, and struggling with low self-esteem. It was a downward spiral that seemed never-ending.”
As a frequent traveler for work, Dave faced numerous challenges that impacted his health negatively. Irregular schedules, limited access to healthy food options, disrupted sleep patterns, and a sedentary lifestyle became constants in his life, taking a toll on his physical and mental well-being.
“Constant work travel wreaked havoc on my health. The long hours, unhealthy food choices, lack of exercise, and disrupted sleep patterns left me feeling exhausted, mentally drained, and increasingly unfit.”
While the call from his father ultimately jolted Dave into action, it wasn't his only wake-up call. Years of neglecting his physical well-being found Dave feeling increasingly unhappy.
“I remember the day vividly when I stepped on the scale and saw a number that frightened me. It was a wake-up call, a realization that my health was at a critical juncture. I knew I needed to make a change. I remember looking at myself in the mirror one day, feeling unhappy and unhealthy. It hit me hard, and I knew I couldn't continue living that way. I made a firm decision to change my life.”
Motivated to improve his health, Dave embarked on a quest to find a solution that would guide him toward sustainable changes. It was during this search that he found the Fit Father Project.
