massive weight loss

Achieving massive weight loss can seem impossible if you’re more than 100 pounds overweight.

But it’s not, and Fit Father Brian is proof!

Brian, a 37-year-old father of four, had been overweight most of his life, and he had a poor relationship with food — it was an escape, a coping mechanism.

Excess pounds weren’t the only problem as he got older.

His blood pressure was dangerously high, and he had digestive issues with his stomach and gallbladder.

After surgery to remove his gallbladder, Brian had enough.

He knew it was time for a change.

That’s when he found the Fit Father Project, and the process of achieving massive weight loss — and losing over 100 pounds — began!

Listen to Brian's Story on the Fit Father Project Podcast:

Close To Giving Up

According to Brian, he was always overweight, and eating was a way for him to deal with life.

“Growing up, I was overweight. I had a poor relationship with food. Food became my escape and coping mechanism. So, I got into my 20s and started having blood pressure issues. It used to be very dangerously high, around 180 over 120.”

Brian's health issues compounded as he got older and gained more weight.

“I weighed 361 pounds. It was a lot of weight to carry around for my joints and feet. My job demanded a lot of legwork, which was very difficult because I had a lot of pain in my feet, knees, and ankles.”

At 26, Brian found a way to lose weight, and he dropped 100 pounds.

But after getting married and facing the struggles and stress of day-to-day life, he gained the weight back and developed an unhealthy relationship with food yet again.

“The weight started coming back on. The food became a stress relief. It became the thing I fell upon whenever I was stressed out with work, kids, and responsibilities. Suddenly, I found myself back over 300 pounds.”

As he was nearing his 40s, he was beginning to feel defeated by his health, and his self-esteem was shot.

Change just seemed like a pipe dream.

“I thought it was impossible to recover, and I was just going to be heavy for the rest of my life. I told myself that I couldn't do this. It's too hard. I was feeling terrible. I ate so much and woke up feeling tired and sluggish the next day. I just wanted to lay around and sleep all the time.”

Unfortunately, more health issues followed.

“Toward the end of last year, I started having some really bad digestive issues. I had bad stomach pain and found out I had severe gallbladder issues. So, I had surgery in January for it.”

The surgery was a success, and Brian began to recover.

But, a looming summer vacation with his family helped him realize that he needed to do more — and do something about his weight.

“We decided to plan a family vacation in the summer, which was a big motivation behind getting in shape. I didn't want to be miserable on vacation. I wanted to be able to walk around and enjoy my kids and be outside.”

Find out how Brian’s life completely changed after his massive weight loss!

Achieving Massive Weight Loss

With a newfound motivation and sense of purpose, Brian began researching ways to lose weight, and, more importantly, keep it off.

Reflecting on past weight loss efforts and various levels of success, Brian knew he needed something sustainable that would work for HIM.

And that's when he found the Fit Father Project.

He joined, but it wasn't easy.

He initially found things to be extremely difficult, as he was set in his ways and had a lot of weight to lose.

But, he kept plugging along, and day by day, he was feeling better and better.

He loved the meal plans, especially the shakes, and appreciated how it wasn't a ‘diet' — it was a way of life.

It was a way to lose weight and keep it off, build muscle, and get healthy for himself and his family.

Despite initially finding the workouts difficult, Brian followed through with the exercise regime, and soon, it all came together.

He lost over 100 pounds, and he's still going strong!

The benefits didn't stop there, either.

“I have so much more energy. I feel so much better. I wake up in the morning without feeling sluggish and tired. I can get more done because I'm more productive at work and home. I don't feel sick all the time like before. I can now engage with my family and play with my kids.”

So what would Brian say to someone looking to join the Fit Father Project?

“If you have a purpose that you want to be able to fulfill, it begins with you. Live and don't just exist. To have the motivation to affect people's lives and influence the world for good starts with taking care of yourself. You have to take care of yourself; otherwise, you will not be able to do the things you're here for. You won't be able to fulfill your purpose.”

3 Key Takeaways From Brian's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Brian’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Let Your Body Recover

Your body needs rest!

It might seem counterintuitive to take a break every once in a while, but you have to let your muscles recover.

Sticking to your workout plan is important, but so is allowing your body time to recover.

Lesson 2: Keep Yourself Accountable

Staying consistent with your fitness plan will be challenging if you don't keep yourself accountable.

Avoid harsh self-critique, though.

Remember why you're doing this, and reward yourself for small wins along the way.

Lesson 3: Don't Beat Yourself Up

Any journey has bumps in the road.

If you miss a workout or overindulge on junk food, don't beat yourself up.

It's not all-or-nothing — get back on track with your next workout or meal.

Every day, hour, or even minute can be a new start!
