power of support

Episode 167 of the Fit Father Project Podcast is all about the power of support and how the right people around us can get us through anything.

In this episode, you’ll meet Harry Lorusso, a man with a unique and incredible story to tell.

In March 2019, at the age of 33, Harry was diagnosed with glioblastoma, one of the most complex, deadly, and treatment-resistant forms of cancer.

He underwent a year of treatment at UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and was enrolled in a trial that injected a virus in his tumor and included radiation, oral chemotherapy, and IV immunotherapy.

The average life expectancy of a glioblastoma diagnosis is around 14-16 months. Four years have passed since Harry’s treatment, and he’s had no evidence of the disease since!

Harry deeply believes the most essential part of beating this disease was the power of support he got from his family, friends, and medical team.

Once Harry’s treatment was finished, he decided to shift his focus onto others battling this disease and founded The Outlier Fund with his wife, Dana. The Outlier Fund is a 501(c)3 dedicated to bringing hope to those impacted by glioblastoma by creating community, raising awareness and funds for impactful research.

These days, Harry loves spending time with Dana and their two-year-old son Wylie and “doing hard things.” In May of 2022, he completed his first 26.2-mile marathon and, in April of 2023, finished 9th overall in his first 33-mile off-road ultramarathon through the Blue Ridge Mountains.

This is an incredible conversation with a man from whom we can all learn a lot!

In this episode, you’ll learn about:

  • Harry’s life and health story.
  • His glioblastoma diagnosis and how he dealt with it.
  • The importance of having a solid support system around you.
  • How Harry beat glioblastoma.
  • Staying positive and focused.
  • And so much more!

So, to get the most from your health and fitness efforts, listen to this episode on the power of support, take some notes, and check out FF30X!
