Welcome to this resource on ‘How to Shoot an Amazing Transformation Story Video' for the Fit Father 2021 ‘Veterans' Transformation Video Contest!

On behalf of me and our entire Fit Father Project Team, I would like to thank you in advance for preparing your video and telling us all about your journey.

Hearing the stories of guys that have gone through the FF30X and OSM programs, and had great success, is what all of this for. Your stories are our inspiration!

So, let's dive on in and I'll give you some tips and recommendations on how to prepare your video and give you the best chance of winning $2,000!

1. Lighting

To make yourself stand out well and not have you covered up in shadows, it's always best to shoot your video with light in front of you, not behind you.

Shooting your video in natural light is always great, but if that's not possible, then having a light set up facing you (but not too bright; it's not an interrogation!) will suit too.

Here is a video that shows how you can use natural light from a window (in front of you… for a nice video shot). Even though a fancy camera is shown in this video, you can use any good camera (including phone cameras):

2. Video Focus & Stability

When you shoot your video, it's important that we can see you in good focus, and stable, throughout.

If you have a significant other, Mom, Sister, Friend, or any other helper who is willing to hold your phone or camera steady while you talk, that would be fantastic!

If you would rather shoot your video on your own, my recommendation is that you use a tripod, or failing that, support your phone or camera on something stable that will not move for the duration of your video.

Here are some simple phone and camera tripods that work greatL

3. Format/Mode

My recommendation is that you shoot your video in Landscape (or Horizontal) mode. The main reason for this is that the Landscape (Horizontal) mode is more clear and has a wider, better-looking shot that the Portrait (Vertical) video orientation. Movies you see in theaters are Landscape mode for a reason! It's easier to watch.

4. Your Video Flow (What To Say)

The flow, or narrative, of your video is also very important, as you want to get across as much detail about your journey as possible, as succinctly as you can.

Share your authentic story! It's not necessary to script all the words out. Having a simple structure of “talking points” to follow can be helpful.

As you will be sharing the great story of your Fit Father transformation journey, I would like to give you a few pointers on what it could include.

  • Start with your name, your age, where you're from, and if you would like to mention it… what you do for a living.
  • Describe what life was like before you found the Fit Father Project and what challenges you were experiencing in your everyday life… with your health, fitness, energy, mindset, etc?
  • How did you find the Fit Father Project? What did you search? Did someone tell you about the program? When did you join the program?
  • What results have you achieved with the Fit Father Project (amount of weight lost, inches lost, shirt and/or pant size drop, health improvements, muscle gains, improvements to your overall mindset/wellbeing, any other life improvements that have happened as a result of your FFP Journey?
  • How long did it take you to get your results?
  • What is your life like now, after making your transformation?
  • What do your friends, family, co-workers, or partners say about the changes theyʼve seen in you?

5. Highlight Your Results

Another simple, yet powerful thing you can do in your video is to hold up (or edit in) a picture of your “before” images.

Below, you can see an example video below of an incredible transformation story shared by one of our Fit Mother Project members, Steph. Steph printed out her before image and demonstrated a fantasti example of a top quality transformation video – primarily because of how authentic she shared her journey and how she really showcased her incredible transformation with her stories & use of her before pics.

Getting into the right “mindset” for your video

Before shooting your video, it's a really good idea to re-read your initial mission statement and reflect on all the reasons you joined the Fit Father Program… and all the amazing progress you've experienced.

The best videos come from the heart and are simply you sharing your story.

When you turn on the camera… simply tell the story of your journey like you'd tell it to a very dear friend of yours. Share your experience authentically. This video is about your inspiring message and the REAL, RAW stuff that you experienced before, during, and after the video. There is no right or wrong. There is just your incredible experience… and your sharing of your journey has the ability to inspire other people to follow your footsteps.

So there you have it! Those are our recommendations for shooting a great transformation journey video.

On behalf of our entire team, we are really excited to see your transformation video by the entry closing date of 31st January 2021!

We recommend you do a bit of planning using the tips on this webpage and block out some dedicated time to shoot your video.
