Unlocking Your Potential

What are the keys to unlocking your potential? It all starts with the right mindset and motivation. Then, anything is possible!

Take Fit Father Jason, for example.

Jason is a busy father of four in his 50s, who, after a lifetime of unhealthy eating habits, found himself in bad shape.

He would get out of breath walking to the mailbox, and he knew he needed a change.

An online search led him to the Fit Father Project, and with proper strength training and nutrition, he’s been able to completely reverse his health.

He’s lost over 40 pounds, he's deadlifting 350 pounds, he's doing Spartan races (finishing in the top 10 for his age), and he's even training to go to the TaeKwonDo nationals!

And all of this really wasn't a possibility in his mind before he started these practices of healthy living.

He found a way to unlock his potential — and you can, too!

Listen to Jason's Story on the Fit Father Project Podcast:

Bad Habits and An Unhealthy Lifestyle

Jason was behind the eight-ball when it came to health and fitness, as his bad habits started at a young age.

“I lived in a family that was very unhealthy. We ate at McDonald’s and fast food regularly.”

Still, Jason was an active kid, and he played high school sports.

After high school, the bad habits started catching up with him.

“So after high school, I just was an unhealthy person. I started gaining a lot of weight.”

Then family, work, and life happened, and the pounds kept adding up.

As he began to lose family members, Jason began to take a closer look at his health.

“As I was close to turning 50, I saw my parents and grandparents pass away because of health reasons.”

He knew he needed a change, but he didn't know where t begin.

Jason had previously tried some fad diets, like the keto diet and others, but nothing worked for him sustainably.

Eventually, Jason decided to join a gym, but that didn't last long once COVID hit.

Before he knew it, he was close to 250 pounds and without any answers.

That's when he found the Fit Father Project.

See how strength training and nutrition allowed Jason to unlock his potential!

Unlocking Your Potential

As he dug into the Fit Father Project, things started to click for Jason.

“What opened my eyes was not just the fitness part of the program, but more importantly, the nutrition, health, diet, supplements, and the mindset components.”

Once he began looking at things holistically, he was able to move forward with intention.

“I could track where I was, what I needed to do, and what my goals were. It just made my journey more intentional.”

Once he knew what to do, he started building his routine.

“I started following the program at home. And then immediately, as soon as the gyms opened again, I joined one where I could lift weights.”

With his nutrition and fitness dialed in, Jason began seeing results.

“By using the program, I actually increased my metabolism. I started eating healthier, so the initial weight drop was quite quick. Within six months, I was down somewhere between 30-35 pounds. A few days later, I was 40 pounds less. I was at 180-190 pounds.”

Jason's body was getting better, his health was improving, and he was making mental shifts.

“Earlier, my mindset was focused on how I was getting old. I believed I couldn’t do anything as I was an old guy. But now, my mindset has totally changed. I am running Spartan races and joined Taekwondo in my 50s. So, my mindset is a lot different now, and there are no excuses.”

So what would Jason say to someone looking to join the Fit Father Project?

“The first thing is to understand that there are going to be challenges, and you will have to figure out how to get around those challenges. There are no excuses, and you must figure out where to put that time and energy into. Just keep going and keep doing it. You have to make time for this before everything else and have to fit this routine into your life because your health is the most important priority. Don’t let anybody tell you that you can’t do it.”

3 Key Takeaways From Jason's Journey

To summarize, here are three key lessons you can learn from Jason’s successful health and fitness journey:

Lesson 1: Stop the Excuses

You have to take charge of your life to make it better.

There will always be an excuse for everything, don't let those excuses define you.

There will always be bumps in the road; how you overcome those bumps is what will drive your success.

Your health is your responsibility. Own it!

Lesson 2: You Are a Product of Your Habits — Good and Bad

Jason was raised with poor eating habits, and it defined his adulthood.

That is, of course, until he started building new, healthy habits.

Once he did that, his health improved, and he achieved things he could never have imagined for himself.

Your habits make you the person you are.

Be more conscious about your habits and always strive to build healthy habits.

Lesson 3: Health and Fitness Is a Lifestyle Change, Not a ‘Diet' or ‘Quick Fix'

Jason had previously tried several fad diets to lose weight and become fit, but nothing worked for him.

Then he realized that a lifestyle change was what he needed.

There is no shortcut to achieving your desired results in this journey.

You have to go all-in to reap the abundant benefits of a healthy and fit lifestyle.
